Birthday Celebrations

This past weekend was special because it was Grandad’s birthday! Gabriel had a brilliant idea: we would bake Grandad his favourite chocolate birthday cake.

We gathered all the ingredients from the kitchen—flour, sugar, cocoa powder, eggs, and a generous amount of chocolate for that rich flavour. Gabriel was in charge of mixing everything together, and he took his job very seriously. I watched as he measured the ingredients with great care, his little face lighting up with joy as he poured the chocolate batter into the baking tin.

While the cake baked, we decided to nip to the shop to buy candles. Gabriel chose candles which spelt out “Happy Birthday!” in colourful letters. It was the perfect finishing touch to our surprise.

After dinner, we dimmed the lights in the lounge, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere. With the chocolate cake in hand Gabriel led the way to where Grandad was sitting. 

As he entered the room, we all sang “Happy Birthday” at the top of our lungs, Gabriel’s voice ringing out with pure joy. The look on Grandad’s face was priceless as he saw the beautiful chocolate cake, topped with candles flickering in the dim light. He smiled broadly, his eyes shining with happiness.

After blowing out the candles, Grandad thanked us for the thoughtful surprise. We all settled in to enjoy the delicious cake together, with Gabriel proudly announcing, “I made it just for you, Grandad!”

It was a heartwarming evening filled with laughter, love, and a lot of chocolatey goodness. Celebrating Grandad’s birthday this way made it extra special. Happy birthday, Grandad!
