Christmas Bookmark Creations
Kate Markland
Each Christmas, I encourage Gabriel to make a small, homemade gift for family members—something unique and thoughtful that comes from him. This year, he decided on a wonderful idea: festive bookmarks! With a pack of foam cutouts in hand, Gabriel had everything he needed to get creative, designing adorable, holiday-themed bookmarks to gift to each family member.
Crafting the Characters
Gabriel put a lot of thought into each bookmark, choosing a festive character for everyone. He carefully created a snowman, a gingerbread man, Rudolph, Father Christmas, and a penguin, each one delightful. With foam shapes as his base, he glued on tiny details— scarves, Santa hats, eyes, and of course a red nose for Rudolph. He proudly showed me each bookmark as he finished, his excitement growing with each character.
Thoughtful Holiday Touches
He loved the idea of giving each family member their own unique character, and we had fun brainstorming who would get which one. The Penguin, with his little smile, was reserved for Granny, while Father Christmas would go to Grandad, a big fan of anything festive. Each bookmark was truly a one-of-a-kind gift, crafted with care and perfect for slipping into a favourite book to enjoy all year round.
A Homemade Holiday Tradition
Watching Gabriel’s dedication and creativity as he worked on each piece made me smile. Every detail was a little reminder of the joy in handmade gifts, and he couldn’t wait to see everyone’s faces when they opened their own custom bookmark. And as he wrapped each one up, he whispered, "I think they’re going to love them!"
These little handmade gifts capture the spirit of Christmas in our home—thoughtful, heartfelt, and crafted with care.
